Fat Thursday

On the last Thursday before spring people in Poland eat donuts, and the day is called “fat Thursday”. This custom derives from ancient Rome where in this way people celebrated departure of winter. It is widely recognized that if someone doesn’t eat at least donut in “fat Thursday”, he will have no luck in the future. In Poland there are various kinds of donuts, but the most delicious and the most traditional is the one stuffed with rose jam.
