Marianne’s Palace

One of the most magnificent palaces of Lower Silesia is the palace built in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki (Kamenz) by Princess Marianne of the Netherlands – the daughter of the first king of the Netherlands Wilhelm I (more about her in a: Lady from the Netherlands).

In 1945 this great residence was looted and burned by Russian soldiers, then it fell into increasing disrepair. Since 2013 it is in restoration (the end of the work is planned to be in 2030), but a part of it is available to tourists. (Marianna was not allowed by Prussian authorities to enter the palace by the main entrance so she chose the way by the window (she didn’t want to use the servant’s door).
