The other Warsaw ☼

Tourists visiting Warsaw often do not know that the city has two completely different faces. One beautiful, of the postcards, with an elegant Old Town; and the other ugly and neglected – Praga. Both parts of the Polish capital are separated by Vistula River, which forms the border between completely different worlds.

In Praga, which had not been destroyed during World War II, original buildings survived – it is time and lack of interest of the city authorities responsible for the present misery. This suburbia, distrustful of strangers, associated with crime and bazaars, always aroused fear and… fascination. Life is not easy here, but people, as it can be seen, try to add a little color to it.

Pictures of New Praga were made in 2014 and 2015 by Marek Angiel.
