Towering proudly over the beautiful surroundings of the Książ Landscape Park (Lower Silesia) the Książ castle is third largest castle in Poland. It was built in the late 13th century by the Piast Prince Bolek I, but during seven centuries of its history it several times changed the owners as well as its look. The last major renovations were done at the beginning of the 20th century by the last owner, Prince John Henry XV Hochberg von Pless.
He was the spouse of a beautiful, albeit unhappy with him Princess Daisy, whose spirit wanders around the impressive chambers of the building. The castle is also known for mysteries and secrets of the World War II. Beautiful landscape, gardens, horses and numerous hiking areas nearby make it a very attractive place for tourists, also in a winter coat. Photos made by Dorota Mazur.
